Edson Buddle, a nine-year Major League Soccer veteran, will return to his native Port Chester on Wednesday August 11, 2010 to make a celebrity appearance at the Panera Bread Café. From 3:00-4:30PM, Edson will sign autographs and greet fans in the community he calls “home.”
Since 2007, Edson has played forward for the LA Galaxy, and was a former striker for the Columbus Crew, New York Red Bulls, and Toronto FC. This year he was selected to join the U.S. Men’s National Team, and participated as #14 in the recent 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa. Edson continues to represent the U.S. National Team, and will play a match against Brazil on the eve of his Port Chester visit at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Edson will also play in the LA Galaxy vs. New York Red Bulls match in Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ, on August 14.
During Buddle’s appearance at Panera Bread, Village of Port Chester Mayor, Dennis Pilla, will present him with an official proclamation from the Village of Port Chester. Additional members of the Village of Port Chester government will also be on hand, and New York State Assemblyman, George Latimer, is scheduled to attend.
Buddle, 29, was born in New Rochelle and raised in Port Chester, and attended Port Chester High School. His father, professional soccer player, Winston Buddle, named Edson after his favorite Brazilian soccer star, Edison Arantes do Nascimento, otherwise known as “Pele.” For more information on Edson Buddle, visit www.EdsonBuddle.com
